Great video and song to go with it. Did you post something on what your house looks like? Maybe I missed it. Also, where are you writing on info for Invisible Children? I went to the page and got sidetracked by MEND. That bag is pretty cool, and it is neat that you can find out information about the person who designed it. In the taking the wings off the ants portion of the video…are the wings not edible, and how long did it take him to get all of those ants, how many people does it feed? I could probably ask questions all day. Stay safe, keep up to the good work.

Hi Joe,
Glad you like the video. I didn’t post anything about the house. I’ll try to put a post up soon. Basically, though, it’s a Western style house.
Go to Invisiblechildren.com and check out the link to their blog (bottom of the page).
Yeah, they don’t eat the wings, I’m not sure why. One of the guards at our house collected about 3 or 4 lbs. of ants in one night!!! They all hatched one evening and all died by morning. One person can eat 1 lb. of ants in one sitting!! (All of the ants you saw in the video was lunch for only two men.) I watched guys eat them by the handful. They cook the ants on low heat in a saucepan with a bit of salt and nothing else. I tasted one–it tastes kind of like well-cooked popcorn with a sort of nutty aftertaste. It’s a seasonal delicacy here–everyone awaits the start of the rainy season so they can eat white ants.
all the best,
A

Thanks Vero! In the video, that beautiful insect you see is not a butterfly—it’s actually a grasshopper!

The song was a nice touch, too. Hugs and I hope you’re doing well
