Yes We Can–Inspiration

For the past three days, I have watched this video once or twice right after I woke up. It made me excited to take on the day. It sprays hope over any and everything it gets its hands on. Hope-haters, beware.

P.S.–No, the appearance of this video here doesn’t mean I’m some ardent Obama supporter. No, I’m not hoping you will become some ardent Obama supporter after watching it. I posted the video here because the message in it is THE message. Too much of what we watch and read tells us No, we can’t. No, it’s too dangerous. No, it’s too difficult. No, it’s too expensive. No it’s too… No to all of that. Yes. We. Can.

Socialism would be great, if participation were strictly voluntary. Unfortunetly, government force of arms is required.

Craige, I’m not quite sure how this video inspired you to leave your comment. I don’t think socialism is what Obama is advocating here. Did he say anything that led you to believe he supports socialism? (Or maybe we’re thinking of different definitions for the word ’socialism’?–I’m thinking state-owned/managed enterprise.)

To me, he’s talking about nothing more than optimism, embracing change, and working together with one another to achieve the goals we value. Am I off on this?

And could you explain the ¨force of arms¨part?

Sorry, sometimes I need things spelled out for me before I can wrap my brain around something!

cheers,

Andrew
